Stars and Stripes

shirt (similar) // pants (similar) // sandals

Hey y'all! These are two different looks that would be lovely for the 4th of July! The first one is dressier, so if you're watching fireworks from a fancy little get-together, I think this would be adorable. I absolutely love this dress. It's gorgeous, and I think this color looks great on everyone. Floppy hats are all over the place, and my mom surprised me with this monogrammed one while I was still at school!

The second outfit is more casual, but I opted for white pants rather than shorts because 1) it gets cooler at night, and I'm always cold, and 2) less mosquito bites!!! Also, I WON THESE SANDALS! I was so excited. Y'all, I am not lucky. I am probably the least likely to be chosen for something that I actually want and the first to be chosen for something that I don't want. (Totally not saying that I'm not blessed, because I definitely am, but when it comes to luck of the draw, not so much). Anyways, Marley Lilly and Monday Dress were having a giveaway on Instagram last week, so I entered, not expecting anything to come of it. Then, I got the notification on my phone, and I jumped up and down and squealed. I love these, and I would strongly recommend following @marleylilly and @shopmondaydress on Instagram and entering in those giveaways! Everything in their shops is adorable as well, so check that out too.

Yay! I hope everyone is having a wonderful week! Thanks for stopping by!

Woman Crush Wednesday

Elisabeth Elliot

December 21, 1926 - June 15, 2015

I've thought about doing posts like this for a while, and with the death of a wonderful lady, I was prompted to post my first "Woman Crush Wednesday." Every few weeks, I'll be posting about women of the Lord whom I greatly admire. So, here we go!

Elisabeth Elliot's autobiography can be found on her website elisabethelliot.org. The story I know greatest about her is when she was the wife of Jim Elliot. Jim Elliot died in 1956 while witnessing to an Indian tribe. The Indians were confused and scared, and they speared Jim Elliot. Sound familiar? This story was told in the movie End of the Spear (which I strongly recommend watching, it's awesome). My grandparents were acquaintances of the missionaries serving alongside of the Elliots, so I've heard their story many times during my life. Elisabeth stayed with the same tribe that killed her husband for two years. I can only hope to be as forgiving as she and as determined as she to reach the most challenging people. Through opposition after opposition, this woman put all of her strength into honoring the Lord.

"The fact that I am a woman does not make me a different kind of Christian, but the fact that I am a Christian makes me a different kind of woman." Preach it, sista. We should be different. We should disagree with what the world thinks. We should live for Jesus.

I hope we all desire to be more like this woman but most of all, more like Jesus!!

Thanks for stopping by!

Pineapples and Stripes

shirt // shorts (no longer come in this print, similar here) // sandals // purse // watch

Hey y'all! I hope everyone's week is off to a great start! I love this shorts/shirt combo so so much. It's so bright and happy! Whenever I was laying it out, it reminded me of when Julianne Hough told Sadie Robertson that she had a "light" that was "infectious" during ABC's Dancing with the Stars. That's probably a very random connection, but my mind bounces around like that often. Sadie responded on Instagram (y'all, follow her, she's awesome @legitsadierob) by saying that it was the light of Jesus. She added Philippians 2:15-16, "that you may be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and twisted generation, along whom you shine as lights in the world, holding fast to the word of life, so that in the day of Christ I may be proud that I did not run in vain or labor in vain."
How true!! This world is so crooked and messed up, but God allows His light to shine through us to show the world something greater. I hope that we all work for His glory, always. Have a wonderful week! Shine for Jesus!!

Blue Hues

Hey y'all! I chopped a bunch of my hair off earlier this week!! I was so nervous to do it, but I've always wanted to, so I just did it. And I love it! It's going to take some getting used to after having long hair since middle school.

If you can't tell, my favorite color is blue. Half of my wardrobe is blue, my room is blue, my bathroom is blue, my hairbrush is blue, UNC is blue. You get the picture. Anyways, I hope everyone's week has been great! Time for the weekend :)

Weekend Recap

On Saturday, we visited this little street market/festival in downtown Waynesville after getting some lunch! Live music, wood carvings, kettle corn, and all types of things were there!

This clay chicken pitcher was made entirely by hand! It was so beautiful and unique.

This wasn't a part of my weekend, but my brother found a baby deer and held it during his weekend. He sent this picture to me with the caption "you jelly?" Yep, I sure am.

A petting zoo was in the middle of the festival! I love animals, so I couldn't resist.

Here I am, pleading with the babies to come over and let me pet them.

This was the incredible view from the house. W.O.W.

Andrew and I love our ice cream! We went out to dinner Saturday night with his family and walked around the streets of Asheville.

Andrew's father told me that I missed a killer sunrise the first morning, so I set an alarm for 6 AM the next morning and got to see this!! God is awesome. He has blessed us so much.

Sunday morning, we ate brunch at the Biltmore Estate.
It's a buffet, they said.
You can eat as much dessert as you want, they said.
You will gain 50 pounds this weekend, they did not say.

After brunch, we had to walk off all of that dessert around the gardens! They were stunning, as usual.

*enter heart eyes emoji here*

And that's a wrap! The weekend was so much fun. I hope y'all had a wonderful weekend as well!

Floral Summertime Scarf

Hey y'all! How gorgeous is that view?? I spent the weekend in the beautiful mountains of NC! I wore this outfit to dinner on our first night there. It was perfectly comfy and roomy (which was needed after how much food I ate). This scarf is great for spring, summer, and fall and has so many pretty colors in it that it goes with practically everything! Also, I'm in love with this purse; I've had my eye on it since I first saw it in stores! I considered it a birthday present to myself when I picked it up last week.

Take a second look at those mountains. I couldn't get over how stunning this view was. I'll be posting some more pictures from the weekend soon, the best being those of these mountains. They definitely made waking up at 6 AM worth it to see the sunrise!

I hope y'all had lovely weekends too, thanks for stopping by!

Flirty Birdies

top and bottom set // wedges // purse (similar) // sunnies (similar)

This adorable two piece set made me feel like Taylor Swift. And, it's trimmed with a strip of lacy scallopedy pom poms. So I love it.

I hope y'all are trying new things this summer! I'm normally not very adventurous, so even this outfit was a little out there for me, but I love it! Don't be afraid to be bold. You can have it your way, but don't get crazy.

Colorful Tank

Last outfit post from the beach! My momma gave me this colorful tank top for my birthday, and I absolutely love it! I love just about everything that's tied together with a pretty bow (and it's SO soft)! After Mexican for dinner, we got ice cream from the cutest stand at Wrightsville Beach. I had a thing for wearing my hair up when we went out to eat, so this type of swirly bun updo was my go-to. If anybody wants to see some hair tutorials, comment down below! They're quick and easy (this bun took about 5 minutes), and I love helping people out with their hair! It's super fun :)
